Getting started with LootPick

LootPick is built around one question: is this a good time to buy this game? Here is how to go from first visit to a useful setup in about five minutes.

Step 1: look around, no account needed

Start on the home page. The shelves show what is trending, what is on sale and which games have just hit a record low. The Deals and Historic Lows pages list the best current offers, and the subscription pages for Game Pass, PS Plus and EA Play show what you can already play without buying. All of it is open to everyone.

Step 2: open a game and read its label

Every game page shows a score from 0 to 100 and a plain label: Buy Now, Watch It or Wait. Buy Now means the price, the reception and your interest line up. Watch It means a fair deal where waiting could still pay off. Wait means this is not a good moment. If you want to know why a game got its number, the full breakdown is one click away, and the scoring guide explains each part.

Step 3: create an account and add your Picks

An account lets you keep a list. Add the games you are waiting on to Picks, then put them in order, with the one you want most at the top. That order feeds your score, so a game you care about reads as more urgent than one you are merely curious about. The Picks guide covers filtering, sorting and the free tier limits.

Step 4: set a target price

On a pick you can turn on a price alert and set the price you would happily pay. The setting is saved to your account, and the mobile app is where notifications arrive, so install it if you want to be told rather than check.

Step 5: log what you buy

When you buy something, record it in Loot with the price you paid and the full price. Over time Loot shows what you have spent and what you saved by waiting for sales. It also keeps your backlog honest, since each game has a status such as Not played, Playing, Finished or Dropped. See the Loot guide.

A few habits that help

  • Check a game's page before you buy. Prices differ by store and by region, so confirm the final price at the store.
  • Use Wait as information, not as a ban. It tells you the price will probably fall.
  • Revisit your Picks order now and then. As your interests change, your scores should too.
